Here are some of the new features of iOS 5 that I find useful, long awaited, or just plain cool.

1.Wireless Sync. Finally iOS 5 devices will sync, backup, and perform software updates wirelessly once connected to an AC outlet. No more need for USB cords! Now this can all happen while your phone charges at night while you sleep.

2. Keyboard Shortcuts. I find myself texting the same group messages all the time. For example I might txt, "Hey, whats going on this weekend?" to a group of my friends. Now I can set that phrase to auto fill when I type "hwg."

3. Added contact fields. A few new fields have been added allowing you to add a contacts social media address as well as family relations.

4. Facetime, all the time. After many complaints from iPhone users Facetime is no longer limited to Wi-Fi.

5. Define. Although this is by no means groundbreaking the added feature of a dictionary to reference when writing is a nice, helpful add.

Other additional features:

-ability to use device while sync takes place in the background

-ability to speak txt.

-hourly weather forecast and weather for current location

-lock screen notifications and notification sorting

-Pinch Zoom for Camera Feature

-and many more.

200 more new features to be exact, and depending on which iOS device you have, some or all are available to explore! Have fun.

I loved this movie! Possibly the best I have seen so far in 2011. It's slow, dark, isolated, romantic, and at times, hyper-violent. The cinematography is beautiful. It reminded me of a Michael Mann film, but still was able to keep it's own identity. It's everything I want in a movie. It also has a fantastic soundtrack. Here's a little preview below.

RATTLESNAKE

1 ½ oz blended whiskey
1 tsp lemon juice
¼ tsp absinthe (or anis flavored liqueur)
½ tsp simple syrup (or powdered sugar)
1 egg white

Combine all ingredients with ice and shake vigorously in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a cocktail glass, and serve. Thanks to /SAVEUR for the recipe!

SUMMER COCKTAILS

Here are some of my fav summer cocktails and a few new ones I'm dying to try!

Pimm's Cup
1 1/2 ounces Pimm’s No. 1 Cup
lemonade (or ginger ale or lemon-lime soda)
lemon slices
cucumber slices
(optional: orange slice, fresh borage and/or mint leaves, apple slices, strawberry)

Lillet Sin

2 ounces Lillet blanc (white Lillet)

4 ice cubes
2 tbs crushed ice (I omitted this)
3 or 4 fresh mint leaves
1 wedge lime
1 thin slice fresh ginger
1 tsp "sugar cane" (I used plain granulated sugar)
Tonic water or Perrier (I used club soda - and was actually wondering if that was what was meant by "tonic water.")

Le Petit Hibou

2 ounces Pinot Blanc or New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc

2 ounces Lillet Blanc
2 ounces apple juice

Crimean Cocktail

2 ounces dry white wine

1 ounce orange liqueur, such as Cointreau
1 ounce soda water
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice

Scofflaw

1 1/4 ounces rye whiskey

3/4 ounce dry vermouth
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 ounce grenadine
Dash angostura orange bitters
1 lemon twist

The Derby

1 1/2 ounces Bulleit Bourbon

1 ounce Bénédictine D.O.M.
2 dashes angostura bitters
(i also like to add fresh squeezed lime)

The Last Word

3/4 ounce gin

3/4 ounce green Chartreuse
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
3/4 ounce maraschino liqueur
